BOWERS and Pitsea did what no-one else has managed to do so far in Ryman League division north this season - come away with something from Maldon & Tiptree's Park Drive stronghold.

The Jammers' had held a perfect record of 16 wins from 16 league games on home turf before Bowers turned up, however, there was no home joy at the 17th attempt as the visitors left with a 3-2 win and three points.

They had to do it the hard way as well as they had to come from behind with ten men.

In the end, though, it was a five-minute spell midway through the second half that turned the game on its head.

Bowers had been the first to draw blood in the first half when Lewis Clark gave them a 31st minute lead, but Liam Nash made sure that Maldon were level at the break as he scored a 37th minute equaliser.

That was how it stayed until the 60th minute when Tyler Brampton put the Jammers into the lead and it looked as though they were on their way to a 17th straight home win when Bowers had Ben Sartain sent off just 60 seconds later.

However, the game was turned on its head in the following two minutes as Brad Warner first fired the visitors level and then into the lead with a 64th minute penalty.

Despite Maldon pressing with chances for Nash and Adam Mills in the closing stages, that was how it stayed as the Jammers saw their home record final taken.

With the leaders losing, the chasing pack were looking to take advantage and BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT made the most significant move with a 2-1 win at struggling Great Wakering Rovers.

An own goal and a 40th minute strike from Aaron Condon gave Regent a 2-0 lead at the break and although Jake Gordon got Rovers back into the game with ten minutes to go, Brightlingsea held on for the three points.

They took Regent above Thurrock, who lost at Brentwood Town, and into second place behind Maldon and Tiptree, having played two games less than the leaders.

WITHAM TOWN ensured that they are still to lose to the same team at home and away as they secured a point with a 1-1 draw at Wroxham.

The Norfolk side had shocked Witham by beating them at the Village Glass Stadium in October, but Scott Kemp's 20th minute goal earned them a draw in the reverse fixture.

There was also a 1-1 draw for HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS in their Essex derby at Tilbury.

Lewis Francis's goal gave the hosts a half-time lead, but an own goal pulled Swifts level in the 71st minute.
