ONLY two games were played in the Essex Invitation Petanque League but both had a bearing on the top six play-off places.
Bocking Boules hosted third-placed Billericay Meadows and have given themselves a chance of a top-six slot with a 3-0 win.
Billy Williams, Trevor Blows and Callum Finn won 13-6 in the triples, while Williams and Finn secured a 13-10 win in the pairs, before Blows won 13-6 in the singles.
In the other match, Bocking Spinners took on league leaders Bocking Poachers.
In a long triples game, Richard Tite, Malcolm Smith and Christine Knights edged out the Poachers 13-12, while the singles saw Pat Brown beat Smith to take a point for the Poachers.
In the deciding pairs, Knights and Ian Ruffle took two fours early on to open a 10-2 lead for the Spinners, but Mark Williams and Paul Griffin slowly clawed their way back.
However, the Spinners pair held on for a 13-11 win.
