THE festive season got into full swing at Colne Valley Golf Club with the men’s, ladies' and juniors' Christmas Cups plus the seniors' Nine and Dine.

The men’s event was strongly contested, with Jack Perfect-Brown emerging victorious from 29 other players with 41 points.

Tom Smith was second on 38 points while Brian Amos took third on countback with 37.

The significance of Amos’ third-place finish also meant he claimed the 2016 Order of Merit as he fought off stiff competition from Stuart Hurst and Mike Blinman for the season-long totals.

A total of 26 ladies followed the men out for their Christmas Cup, with Sue Drysdale romping home with 35 points. Karen Charles’ 32 points was enough to see her finish second from Ruth Finch on 31.

Colne Valley's juniors have also been in festive action and played their Christmas Cup over the front nine.

Bradley Cattermole and Daniel Starr both scored 21 points and had to be separated by countback, with Cattermole coming out on top.

A superb effort of 19 points from Daisy Eves was enough for third place.

Meanwhile, the inaugural seniors' Nine and Dine competition was excellently supported, with 22 teams of three battling it out on either the front or back nine.

The honours on the front nine went to the team of Yvonne Eatwell, Bryan Powell and Phil Carr with 35 points, while the back nine was won by Ruth Finch, David Hume and Bernie Gaunt with 43 points.
