BRAINTREE Boxing Club had senior boxers Joe Bryant and Jason Windsor competing against solid opponents from the local club as they fought at the Norwich City ABC Dinner Show.

First up for Braintree was dynamite puncher Joe Bryant, who is fast carving himself an excellent reputation as a very strong fighter.

Bryant was matched tough against the older and bigger Liam Cameron in what turned out to be an exhilarating contest between two tenacious competitors.

The Braintree boxer started by pushing Cameron back with quick jabs and combination punching and he was the aggressor throughout the first round.

Sensing he was behind, Cameron upped the pace in the second, however, the Bryant fired back with some fierce body shots and solid hooks to the head.

A particularly hard right uppercut knocked Cameron’s head back and almost forced the referee to intervene, with the bell saving him from receiving a standing eight count.

Keen to avoid the bout going to a decision, Bryant surged forward in search of a knockout in the final round and landed some damaging shots, but the brave Norwich boxer valiantly held on to hear the final bell.

The judges awarded a unanimous points victory to Bryant, who remains undefeated and was also awarded the Away Boxer of the Night trophy.

Up next for Braintree was Windsor, who once again demonstrated that he has the potential to develop into an extremely good fighter.

Braintree head coach, Sean Magee, considers Windsor to be the most naturally talented boxer that he has trained at the club and has very high hopes for his boxing future.

Windsor was competing against another home fighter, Sam Omara, in what turned out to be the fight of the night.

In the best round he has ever boxed, Windsor was absolutely dominant throughout the opening round and landed crisp combinations to his befuddled opponent, who struggled to cope with the superior skill set of the fast Braintree boxer. One straight right hand towards the end of the round caught Omara flush and opened a cut above his right eye, forcing the referee to request assistance from the ringside doctor.

With the bout continuing, Omara surged forward in an effort to break the more technical boxing of Windsor, who continually out landed and out punched his opponent and again had him reeling on the ropes.

Again, the doctor checked the worsening cut of the Norwich boxer but allowed the bout to continue.

In the final round, both boxers gave their all with Omara managing to force the action and finally push Windsor backwards, however, he again got wobbled by a solid left hook that had Windsor finishing the round strongly.

To the bemusement of the crowd, though, Windsor was unfortunate to lose on a split decision verdict by one point.
