THE first round of the East Anglian Winter Regional Series saw the Braintree Bullets BMX Club riders use their home track advantage to push into an early lead in the overall club points standings.

The bullets fielded 55 out 156 entries and stole the show in a number of classes.

The first class win for the home club came in the tens as Freia Challis took the challenge to the boys and went unbeaten all day.

The British and National girls' champion knows every inch of her home track and her technical dominance shone through.

The next class win for the Bullets came from Adam Gilbert in the 14s as he made up for a first race mechanical issue to come back fighting for the win. Gilbert was riding up an age class and was untroubled by the size difference.

Molly Nice also made the podium in the class as she smoothed her way to third.

Next up for the win on their home track was Matt Goodwins in the 16s.

Off the gate, Goodwins worked to his strengths and powered away to an unassailable lead.

The Bullets swept the podium in the class with Hayden Challis chasing down Goodwins throughout the lap to take second and Sydney Allen took third after making a brave move on the big jump into the second berm to take the spot.

The wins kept coming for the Bullets as Roxy Hinton gave her all in the over-16 girls to steal the show.

Down the first straight, Hinton edged into the lead and held off the pack to take the win.

Also on the podium in the class was Abbey Pattle, who had a great final lap in third, while Macey Hinton rode to fourth.

Bringing the curtain down on a great day's racing was the Superclass final, which was awash with Bullets among the eight on the gate.

From the outside of the gate came Josh Butson, who used his smooth riding style to forge ahead of the chasing pack to take the win.

Shane Redgewell had to work his way through the pack and put on a master-class in cornering through the second berm to take third.

Also in the class and showing the rest of the region their dominance were Charlie O’Grady, Josh Wallis and Jake Britton.

The Bullets home club series continues on the first Sunday of the month through the winter at their Deanery Hill track.
