THE remaining two knockout competitions reached their conclusions at Braintree Golf Club.

Trevor Green won the Tilston Trophy when he beat Andy Wiffen two and one over 36 holes, while Martin Hawes, winner of the club’s Order of Merit this year, overcame teenager James Hedger also two and one in the 18-hole final of the Scratch Cup.

A splendid 41 points earned 20-handicapper Richard Leaning victory in Saturday’s Stableford.

He finished three points ahead of runner-up Trevor Hardy (9) while David Hammond (18) finished third with 37.

The midweek Stableford saw low handicappers to the fore with Donald Weaver, off three, winning with 36 points, one more than Michael Groves (4) while Keith Ingram finished third with 34.

Wendy Hutton, playing off 30, won the ladies’ Autumn Meeting.

She signed for 37 points, one better than two rivals.

After a countback, Eva Kajsa Bolland (21) took second spot ahead of Susan Snell (22).
