WITHAM Running Club were represented by two men’s teams at this years Cross-Country Relays held at Hockley.

The course this was slightly shorter this year, with no more than 2.6 miles clocked up and the ground was still very firm under foot with not a muddy ditch in sight.

A few last minute team shuffles were in order due to injury, but even with this, some respectable times were posted.

Witham's Team A came in 12th position in a time of one hour nine minutes 32 seconds, with Team B coming in 33rd out of 38 male teams in a time of 1h 21m 50s.

Five Witham members took on the Maldon Half Marathon, with Paul Chandler the club's first runner home in 1h 35m 14s, but Simon Scott was close on his heels.

Anita Grainger was Witham's first lady home in a new personal best of 1h 50m 38s, while Andy White and Sue Smith successfully took on their first half marathon.
