BRAINTREE and Bocking Angling Society produced the perfect result for their first win in this season's Essex Interclub League.

Round three was hosted by Does on their lakes in Maldon on waters that can be difficult to crack on match days.

However, Braintree and Bocking scored 47 points to edge the host club, who recorded 45, into second place, with Maldon third on 36 points.

Individually, it was the Braintree team captain Danny Mason who led by example in winning the match with 91-8-0. Braintree also had the runner-up in Reece Hearn, who weighed 37-0-0, followed by Barry Hickford of Harwich with 36-4-0.

The Notley Lake was the venue for Braintree club anglers over the weekend, with two matches and it was a double-double for the Orrin family.

On Friday father Mark landed nine carp on either popped up bread or paste in the margins to win with a 38-1-8 total, while, son Chris landed two carp from the margins to boost his F1 and skimmer catch to 26-15-0 and second place.

Two days later, Mark had a similar catch on paste to win with 40-13-0 and Chris came close in second with 37-11-0.
