SILVER END LADIES 7

HODDESDON OWLS 1

Eastern Region Women's League division one

SILVER End Ladies opened their Eastern Region Women's League division one campaign with a 7-1 home win against Hoddesdon Owls.

The hosts started the brighter with Paula Drane's drilled early shot going just wide and Bec Hollocks then headed narrowly just past the post.

However, the game became a scrappy affair and it wasn't until the 27th minute that Silver End got control form the Owls and, in the 27 minute when a fierce effort from Jodie Osborne was blocked and Hollocks rammed home the rebound.

Hollocks doubled the lead on 40 minutes to put Silver End in charge at the break and it it took just five minutes of the second half for them to extend their lead further.

Drane fed Osborne, who rifled home with a low drive.

On 67 minutes, two advantages played by the referee allowed Lynsey Bowman to break down the left wing, cut in and score from an acute angle and she made it 5-0 within a minute after a break down the opposite flank.

It became 6-0 in the 74th minute when the ball break to Rebekah Henderson whose shot could only be helped into the top corner by the Owls keeper.

Silver End's scoring was wrapped up three minutes later as Hollocks completed her hat-trick with another fierce volley and although the Owls did get a late goal back it was only a consolation.

Head coach Jemel Fox said: "It was a good all-round performance with good displays all over the pitch.

"There were some good goals as well.

"This is one step of many to go forward."

Match and club sponsor, the Mystery Ice Machine, awarded the player-of-the-match award to Henderson.
