Braintree Cricket Club captain Will Jackson was pleased to see his team find their batting form again in beating Frinton twos after an under par display the week before.

A Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division one defeat at Mildenhall was followed up by a 132-run home win against Frinton and Jackson felt it was a performance that was needed ahead of their derby clash at Witham .

He said: “Frinton won the toss and decided to bowl, which was surprising at our place and gave us confidence.

“Everyone batted well and we left enough wickets in hand so that batsmen lower down the order could come in and deliver some big hitting in the last 15 to 20 overs so we had a really big score to defend.

“But the bowling display was then excellent as well.

“It was good all-round and a performance that we needed after the Mildenhall game.

“We bowled well there, but didn’t bat well, so it was nice to get the batting back on track.

“I was pleased to see people step up and take responsibility and I think it shows the depth that we have in our batting.”
