SILVER End Bowls Club bounced back to book their place in the last 32 of the National Top Club competition.

After the disappointment of losing on an extra end to Harlow a week earlier in the National Two Fours area semi-final,

Silver End made it through to the Top Club Area Final with a 4-1 victory at Saffron Walden.

Once the Two Wood and Four Wood Singles had been completed, both won by Karl Lodge and Ryan Mann, the result was never in doubt.

The Triples was won comfortably by Andrew Penfold, Ray Everitt and Adrian Papple as they dropped only three singles and the Pairs was won by Steve Dunne and Russell Harmour after some early close exchanges.

The Fours game involving Barry Wells, Nigel Wright, Ray Marshall and Tony Papple was conceded at 15-15 to allow an early finish.

Silver End now play Wanstead Central in the Area Final.

In the North West Essex League, it is all to play for in divisions A and B.

Silver End A maintain a slender advantage over Braintree A in the A division and Silver End B trail by only three points to Tiptree Jobserve B in the B division.

Silver End C remain mid-table in the C division.
