HILL and Black peg 21 lived up to its billing as being a position that was well-fancied for a good weight as Trevor Davies won Braintree and Bocking Angling Society's Kevin Chapman Memorial match.

The match was fished on the Fennes Ash Grounds and Hill and Black lakes in very pleasant conditions and good weights were recorded in all sections.

Hill and Black 21 was fancied as it was just beside the weed and so it proved to be as Halstead angler Davies landed carp and F1s for a match-winning 87-4-0.

Bills Tackle anglers took the next two places from Ash Grounds, with Jamie Derry weighing 78-8-0 in second and Alan Lee 67-0-0 for third.

RESULTS: 4 Bob Jarvis (Lake John) 50-12-0, 5 James Chapman (Fennes Fishery) 50-4-0.

Silver Fish: Danny Rampley 36-4-0.

Sections: (Ash Grounds) 1 M Johnson (Lake John) 43-0-0, 2 C Smith (Colne AS) 21-8-0, 3 G Cousins 43-12-0, 4 A Luetchford (Bills Tackle) 33-8-0, 5 P Norfolk 37-10-0; (Hill and Black) 6 J Collop ( Bills Tackle) 28-0-0, 7 D Field (Bills Tackle) 37-8-0, 8 K Dewsnip (Colne AS) 32-6-0.

A total of £660 was raised for the British Heart Foundation and thanks went to James and Christine at the Fennes for the use of the venue and Danny Rampley, who organised the match.

Friday's Notley Sweep was a close affair in a fairly low weight match.

John Daniels won his section with 6-3-0.
