FIVE Witham Running Club members achieved new personal bests at the Friday five-mile race at Great Bentley.

Despite the breezy conditions, Chris Martin trimmed his personal best (PB) by one second, while Marc Underdown took two seconds off his and at the other end of the scale, Steve Watson took more than two minutes off the previous best time he ran at Braintree.

Anita Grainger and Emma Sweeney were the other two to claim new PBs and Liz Stuckey collected a new trophy for her mantelpiece by being the first female V40.

Elsewhere, Witham had three runners at the Brentwood 10K.

Ross Silverton clocked 53m 9s, followed by Louise Pascoe in 54m 10s and Karen Flowers in 59m 13s.

Steve Hennings travelled to Newmarket for a 10K which he finished in 48m 1s.
