WITHAM Bowls Club's A side won 6-2 to remain top of the Central Midweek Bowling League.

In the North West Essex League, Witham A lost 8-0 but this did not really reflect on the game while the club's B team lost 6-2 to Halstead.

In the men's County Triples competition, Charlie Sage, Ken Wallis and Lennie Foyster enjoyed an excellent 14-10 win against a very strong Silver End side.

Witham will now face another Silver End team in the next round.

Witham's Ladies County Fours team of Pat Brown, Joan Barrett, Gillian Wingrove and Wendy Hutton lost to Great Baddow by two shots.

But the Ladies pairs of Pat Brown and Maureen Stokes beat a strong team from PML.

Witham travelled to Mersea Island and won 113-65, with Phil Baggarly skippering the winning rink.

Witham hosted a match between NWE Bowls Association and Colchester BA, which resulted in a Colchester win.

Witham BC also took part in a Community Day in the town to encourage people to take part in the various activities.

There was a lot of interest shown on the the club's pitch.
