TWO Braintree Golf Club members finished in the top ten in the 72-hole Essex County Championship at Colne Valley.

Elliot Fullalove, back from college in Florida, finished fourth on 286, six over par, after rounds of 75, 69, 70 and 72, trailing the winner, Alasdair Plumb from Chelmsford who finished on level par 280.

Callum Pipe finished joint seventh on 291, posting rounds of 72, 71, 74 and 74.

Andrew Marsay and James Turley topped the leaderboard in the Stisted Park competition at Braintree.

This annual greensome stableford event sees high handicappers playing off 40 per cent and the low off 60 per cent and Marsay and Turley amassed 45 points.

This left them two ahead of the field, with second place going to Mark Reeves and Terry Fisher on countback ahead of Michael Moss and Peter Simons after both had 43 points.

The Bank Holiday men’s Stableford was won by Dermot Burns with 37 points off a handicap of 13.

He finished a point ahead of James Hedger (1), with Adam Crane (2) third with 35.
