BRAINTREE AND BOCKING RESERVES 2

BEACON HILL RESERVES 4

Tiptree Charity Cup final

DIVISION five side Braintree and Bocking Reserves were edged out in the Tiptree Charity Cup final by a Beacon Hill side who play in a level above them in the Mid-Essex League.

Bocking started strongly and went ahead with a goal from Corey Carter within the opening ten minutes and they dominated possession for the first part of the game.

However, Beacon Hill started pressing down the right side and got a corner.

From this, the Bocking keeper was judged to have handled a Beacon Hill player and the referee game awarded a penalty that allowed them to level the score.

They then went ahead from another set piece with a headed goal that gave Beacon Hill a 2-1 lead at half-time and that became 3-1 after the break as the Wickham Bishops side came out strongly.

Bocking pushed for a way back and were rewarded from a corner taken by their youngest player, 17-year-old Ben Jones, and a powerful header from player/manager Mark Davey found the back of the net to make it 3-2.

However, as Bocking pushed for a third, they got caught and Beacon Hill made it 4-2 to ensure they claimed the trophy.

Braintree and Bocking Reserves are looking to add to their side for the forthcoming season.
