SHANE Pavitt gave Braintree Boxing Club another win to celebrate as he was victorious at the Bulmershe ABC boxing show in Reading.

Pavitt was matched against a very strong opponent in Shea Fields, who was representing the home club.

In the bout of the night, Pavitt and Fields engaged in a terrific contest over three rounds that had the crowd screaming their approval as both boxers demonstrated some excellent skill and attrition.

The first round started at a blistering pace, with Fields coming straight at Pavitt and catching him with some heavy punches in the initial exchanges.

In an effort to steady the home fighter, Pavitt began to fire back with some solid jabs and right crosses.

However, Fields refused to be deterred and landed a massive right hook towards the end of the round that momentarily stunned Pavitt.

This punch spurred Fields into launching an aggressive attack, but he walked on to a counter left hook from Pavitt that knocked his head back and sent him spiralling into the ropes as the bell sounded to end the first stanza.

Between rounds, Pavitt was instructed by his corner to now box off the back foot due to the unusual strength of the determined Fields.

Following this advice, Pavitt demonstrated some excellent boxing skills by consistently out jabbing and countering his opponent throughout the round, before landing strong combinations to the body to close the round out convincingly.

Sensing he was behind on the scorecards, Fields threw caution to the wind in the final round and attacked Pavitt.

Unable to hold him off, Pavitt showed his trademark fighting spirit by biting down on his gum shield and trading heavy punches with Fields that visibly hurt the Bulmershe boxer.

Now in control, Pavitt began to push Fields back and continued to land hard punches to both his body and head that sealed the win for him in impressive fashion as the bell sounded.

Pavitt was awarded the points win and picked up a third victory in the last four weeks as he continued his preparations for the Haringey Boxcup on June 17 at Alexandra Palace.
