FISHING the method feeder into the gap in the lillies was a tactic that worked well for Mark Banks in Braintree and Bocking Angling Society's Sweep on Ash Grounds at the Fennes.

Banks drew 33 at the top end of the Channel and his method allowed him to land F1s, bream and carp to 18-2-0 for a match winning weight of 88-0-0.

Dean Field was on 48 and had mainly F`s for his second-placed 40-8-0.

Sections (excluding top two): 1 J Collop 35-4-0, 2 S White 33-14-0, 3 B Walker 37-0-0, 4 J Daniels 15-8-0.

The Tuesday evening match at Notley saw Pete Thompson snatch victory on his last cast, as it provided a carp to go with his silver fish, for an 11-4-0 total.

Alan Luetchford was the angler who lost out, as he weighed 8-4-0 for second and a section win, with Bob Reed taking the other section, weighing 5-14-0.

The Friday Sweep saw Billy Walker use up ten minutes of playing time after the final whistle to land a carp on light gear.

However, he did not need the 4lb fish as he was already well ahead with his silvers and he won the match with a

13-12-0 total.

Sections (excluding winner): 1 P Thompson 6-12-0, 2 B Reed 3-10-0.

Local rod Reece Hearn (Maver/Image) took part in the Colemans Cottage round of the Fish-O-Mania and was disappointed to finish in third place with 107lbs.

The winner had 124lbs and fish lost in a snag would have put Hearn much closer to that total.

There was some consolation in the Bank Holiday Monday Pairs Match, though, which he fished with Danny Mason.

They finished in second place in the pairs, but Hearn took the top individual spot with 194lbs.
