AYTHORPE Roding put in another good performance and got their rewards against South Weald with a seven-wicket victory in T Rippon Mid-Essex League division one.

South Weald batted first and put on 59 runs for the first wicket, but wickets tumbled after the openers departed as the Aythorpe bowlers were in excellent form.

In a welcome return to the club, Joe Grant picked up three for 28, there were two wickets apiece for Liam Rosewell, Neil Culleton and Danny Elsworth and Tom Wharton took one as South Weald were all out for 116.

It wasn't enough as Aythorpe reached their target in 23 overs, with Elliott Reeve hitting 35 not out, Richard Eaton scoring 20 and Paul Gravatt 17.

Aythorpe Roding now sit fifth in the league and travel to Great Totham on Saturday (1pm start).
