WITHAM Dolphins took a number of swimmers to the Braintree and Bocking Spring Festival meet and achieved some great results.

Emma Lancashire and Jasmine Shaw were competing at their very first open gala and both did brilliantly in achieving some great personal bests (PBs).

Also for the girls, Sophie Mason was on form with PBs in all of her five events including a 16 second PB in her 100 metre freestyle where she led the heat from start to finish as well as coming third in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke events.

Kiera Brewer and Eleanor Walsh both picked up PBs in the 200m freestyle with Walsh also achieving a fourth place.

Lucy Byford had PBs in her six events, including a fourth in the 200m individual medley and 50m backstroke.

For the senior girls, Aoife Marley and Maia McPherson both put in solid swims to get five-second PBs in the 200m individual medley event getting gold and silver respectively.

Elizabeth Bentley was also in great form, coming home with a gold in the 50m breastroke and silvers in the 200m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 100m breaststroke events.

Heloise Hall managed a golden double in the 50m and 100m butterfly events and also came away with a third place in the 50m freestyle.

Izzy McPherson got a two-second PB in the 200m individual medley and came away with the silver medal.

The boys were also on top form, with both Jack Wilson and Charlie Hands competing in the 50m and 100m breaststroke events.

Both had a gold and silver.

Jack Tingey also did himself proud with great swims in the freestyle events, including a sixth place in the 100m freestyle, his first in an open gala.

Joe Bentley had a great meet with top-four placing’s in all of his events including a PB and a gold in the 50m freestyle.

There were also great swims and a number of PBs for Lewis Sackman, Samuel Walsh, Cameron Sandford and Ryan Shaw, who achieved top-six placings in two of his four events.
