THE Hatfield Broad Oak ten-kilometre road race was the first of this year’s club championship races for Grange Farm and Dunmow Runners and the club had Steve Read leading their men home.

He finished 23rd in 36 minutes 33 seconds, followed by Dan Reynolds (37m 54s), Paul McKenna (38m 16s), Matt Webster (38m 50s), Alistair Brown (39m 38s) and Sean Henderson in a personal best (PB) of 41m.

Ian Lawson finished in 43m 8s, ahead of Martin Jackson (43m 54s), Jason Wintin (44m 8s) and Chris Hayhow (44m 41s).

There were PBs for Jason Bepey (44m 15s), John Smith (45m 39s) and Simon Singleton (45m 23s).

David Kelsey (45m 33s) beat Colin Jackson (45m 50s), Gerard Geurts (46m 11s), Richard Robertson (48m 45s), Stuart Adams (51m 33s), James Bussell (52m 49s), Gavin Foster (54m 15s) and Simon Pomfret (1h 1m 27s).

Kerry Harrington, in 45m 47s, was the fastest Grange Farm woman, followed by Pru Hayhow (45m 58s) and Gillian Robertson in a PB of 46m 9s.

Jules Adams and Hayley Smith both finished in 49m 12s.

Hayley Morley, in a PB of 51m 10s, finished ahead of Tara Corbett (51m 13s), Angela Thorpe (52m 57s) and Rosalind McKenna (57m 41s).

There were PBs for Debbie Stares (55m 22s), Henrietta Butcher (56m 45s), Glenda Jackson (56m 51s) and Lauren Bowen (59m 24s).

Grange Farm will be holding a nine-mile trail race from the Black Lion, High Roding, on June 12.
