A CARP hat-trick gave Penny Turner a healthy lead to take victory in the Steve Mason Open match on Seabrooks Reservoir.
Turner hooked and, more importantly, landed three carp from her weedy swim - the best around ten pounds - to give her a match-winning total of 24-9-0.
Second in the carp section was Mark Orrin (Braintree), who weighed 12-9-0 and third was Gary Spong (Braintree) with 11-13-0.
There was also a silver fish section, which was won by Jamie Derry (Bills Tackle) with 15-7-0 from Pete Thompson (Team Fennes Fisheries) 13-14-0 and Mark Banks (Bills Tackle) 11-2-0.
Sections: 1 G Tisshaw (Braintree) and Chris Orrin (Braintree).
The Braintree Club were on a very chilly Hill and Black for the second round of the evening match series.
Mark Banks had a carp of 15 pounds and a tench of 4-2-0 along with F1s and bream for a comfortable win with 44-0-0.
Sections (excluding winner): 1 Mick Banks 14-4-0, 2 Jim Loosley 20-8-0.
The carp at Notley were not feeding in the Braintree Club Sweep and this allowed Thompson to sneak the win with 10-9-0 of small fish.
Sections (excluding winner): 1 David Orrin 8-10-8, 2 Chris Orrin 7-13-0.
