BETHANY Shriever will be flying the flag for Great Britain on the global stage at the UCI BMX World Championships in Colombia this weekend.

The 16-year-old from Finchingfield is one of just three elite riders picked by British team chiefs to travel to South America and she will be riding in the junior women's category.

Shriever, who is a former Braintree Bullets BMX Club rider, caught the eye with a marvellous UCI BMX Supercross World Cup debut in Manchester in April when she went up against some of the best riders in the world and came within a place of making the senior final.

Having been unfazed against the best in the world - racing against the likes of Caroline Buchanan and Laura Smulders - she will be looking to use that experience to her advantage in the junior field at the World Championships.

Racing in Medellin is due to take place on Saturday and Sunday.
