BRAINTREE Rugby Club's under-13s finished their season by becoming runners-up at the Road to Rio Sevens tournament.
Half of the under-13s' 22-man squad attended the festival at Ipswich and despite the majority of them never having played sevens before, they quickly adapted to the style of play.
Braintree topped their group with two impressive wins and they moved into the Cup section to face Felixstowe and Colchester, who proved too strong for everyone on the day.
However, a comprehensive victory over Felixstowe secured the runners-up spot.
Squad and try scorers: Donnelly (6), Hogg (2), Kempster (2), Collar (1), Lyndon-Smith (1), Plester (1), Smit (1), Baker (1), Ellis, Brand, Raine.
Meanwhile, Ben Collar collected the under-13s Player-of-the-Season award and Curtis Kirkland won Most Improved Under-13s Player.
