BRAINTREE Bullets BMX Club extended their lead in the regional club standings after a fine day’s racing at round three of the East Anglian BMX Championships at Ipswich.

There was definite strength in numbers as the Bullets fielded 61 out of the 162 entries at the meeting with a number of strong class wins.

The youngest Bullets rider to take the win was Heath Thomas, who continued his domination of the six-and-unders as he went unbeaten through all his races on the day.

Molly Richardson was the next winner for the club as she kept consistent in the nine to ten girls’ class, while also making moves in the Novice class was Matthew Meadows, who rode well in his first regional race.

There was a great battle in the tens after Josh Cates led the final until the last corner.

However, he was pushed a little wide and had to settle for second ahead of Henry Rowe and Eddie Cannons.

Adam Gilbert and Seb Pantlin followed up with class wins for the Bullets in the 12s and 14s respectively and the pair doubled up in the cruiser classes where they also took maximum points.

Also making the podium in the classes were Joe Little in the 12s and Sydney Allen in the 14s, who is looking great on his bike following a serious injury last year.

Moving up to the 16s and Matthew Goodwins was dominant throughout the day as he styled his way to the class win ahead of club-mate Hayden Challis.

The tables were turned in the cruiser class, though, as Challis took the spoils among strong competition.

In the 40 to 44 cruisers, Julian Allen made his mark with a third on the track in the combined final and the class win.

He also rode to a solid second place finish among the Veterans.

Christian White had his strongest ride of the season in the mixed 17 to 24 and Superclass.

The 15-year-old was unfazed among the competition and took the 17 to 24 class win.

Also on the Superclass podium was Josh Wallis, who dug in for a fine third place ahead of club-mate Shane Redgewell in fourth.

Kelsey Dixon made things look easy in the mixed girls' class as she went unbeaten all day.
