WITHAM Bowls Club's season started with a friendly at South Woodham Walters and resulted in a good win for the visitors on all rinks.
The opening game at Witham saw the Captain's Team v the President's Team with a narrow win for the captain that was followed by a sausage and mash supper.
Witham's bowlers then travelled to Ardleigh Colchester for a friendly.
The weather was ideal for bowling but unfortunately for Witham, Ardleigh were the victors by four rinks to one in a 107-74 success.
The winning rink for Witham was a 26-8 victory for skip Derek Hunt, Gordon Barrett, Molly Ager and Phil Baggarly.
This week sees the start of the North West Essex League which means the season is well under way and Witham welcome anyone who would like to try out bowling.
