Braintree and Bocking Swimming Club were proud of the terrific results their swimmers produced at the Harlow Open Meet.

Gold medals were claimed by Rosie Henn in the individual medley and freestyle, Ellie for individual medley and butterfly, Poppy Summers for backstroke, Keir Gibson for individual medley and freestyle, James Wicks for backstroke and Lilly Bott for backstroke and butterfly.

There were more medal placings in the 50 metre races.

Sophia Milson took silver in freestyle and bronze in individual medley, while Louie Walker took butterfly silver and breaststroke bronze and Jamie Hartnup claimed silver in the backstroke and bronze in the butterfly.

Frankie Selwood took breaststroke silver and bronze in backstroke, Robert Elliston claimed bronze breaststroke and Charlotte Hooks had silvers in both butterfly and breaststroke.

Harold Edwards also took bronze in the 100m individual medley.

For many of the junior and novice swimmers, it was their first time out and head coach John Lowe was very proud of all the achievements.

He said: “Probably the most outstanding swim of the meet came from Grace Connolly, who although was unplaced this time out, knocked several seconds from every swim and there is no doubt success will shortly follow for her.

“A very brave swim also came from Sophia Milson, who continued the competition swimming with four fingers after dislocating her finger in her backstroke event but went on the take the silver and bronze medals.

“Other exciting prospects include Sophie Ororke, Ella Nutt, Marcie Aley, Bethan Jarvis, Hannah Godfrey, Annabelle Staines, Grace Burroughs, Finlay Petts, Josh Hooks, and Mathew Pack.

“It is safe to say that the club’s future is in safe hands with these swimmers.”
