Witham Wolves’ under-sevens took two teams to the Romford Festival with two teams, with one of them only denied overall victory by a defeat in extra-time in the final.

Wolves’ Team A, which was coached by Andrew Furse, was Bryn Taylor , Cameron Onley, Harry Lower and Joshua Clarke.

They played four games in their pool and won two, but losing two meant that they did not reach the final.

However, they worked superbly as a team, gaining tags, holding their lines and running in some brilliant tries as they put into practice all the skills they have been developing all season.

Team B, which was coached by lead tag coach Darren Smith, featured Alfie Nice, Vic Collett-Hughes, Archie Simper, Harry Lower and Xander Woodward.

They won all pool games convincingly with double figure scores at the end of each game to reach the final.

The final game was tied at 11 tries apiece and went into extra-time, however, the Wolves were pipped at the post by a runaway try.

Smith said: “I am immensely proud of the team, and all of tag, for bringing home a trophy to add to their collection.”
