More than 70 Colne Valley Golf Club members took part in the traditional curtain-raiser to the season at the Captain versus Secretary Challenge.
The men’s trophy went to the captain’s team by a whisker and the secretary’s team won the ladies’ Trophy.
Malcolm Waite and Eric Thomson had the best score for the men and Sue Petchey and Ruth Eyre-Pugh for the ladies.
It was a day to remember for Petchey as she recorded a hole in one on the 11th and also won the main raffle prize of the giant Easter Egg.
A total of £465 was raised for the captain’s charity – the East Anglian Children’s Hospice.
Meanwhile, the seniors’ monthly stableford produced a win for Paul Neale with 34 points, with Michael Hoines taking second on countback from John Anderson after both had 33 points.
The ladies’ monthly stableford saw Wendy Cook continue her recovery from injury with 30 points to take a countback win from Ruth Finch and Lyn White was third on 23.
A men’s stableford resulted in victory for Roger Holmes with 36 points from Simon Gugacz, who took second on countback from Tim Little as both had 34 points.
The opening men’s medal of the season produced a win for Andrew Carter with a nett 68, from Steve Willingham’s nett 70 and Matt Holbrook was third with a nett 72.
