Chris Orrin managed to find five bream on the feeder to take top honours in the match between the Kelvedon and Braintree clubs.

The best part of the match was the weather, which was quite pleasant for having to sit and waiting for bites, as the fish were certainly not in a feeding mood.

However, Orrin’s weight of 12-10-0 gave him a winning total, while Penny Turner landed two small carp and four bream for 8-15-0 and second place and Bob Reed had two bream for 5-4-8 in third.

Sections (excluding top three): A: 1 P Thompson (Braintree) 2-13-0, 2 G Spong (Braintree) 2-2-0; B: 1 M Orrin (Kelvedon) 2-8-8, 2 J Loosley (Braintree) 1-13-0.

The top three anglers all fished for Kelvedon, so it was a bit of a walkover for them in the match.

The Friday Sweep at Notley produced the highest weight of the year so far as Jim Loosley landed four carp with F1s and silvers for a total weight of 31-2-0.

Chris Orrin landed two carp to boost his section winning weight to 12-8-0, but Pete Thompson needed just 1-12-8 to win the other section by default.

The Kelvedon Club are running their Merv Joslin Open at Layer Marney on April 20.
