Braintree Boxing Club is celebrating yet another great performance from one of their boxers, with 17-year-old prospect Joe Bryant proving too strong for his latest opponent and registering his third stoppage victory in a row.

Bryant was matched against Luke Parker from Patricks ABC at the Sudbury Boxing Club show and demonstrated why coaches at Braintree Boxing Club have very high hopes for him.

The first round of the bout was fought at a great pace with both boxers attempting to gain the upper hand by using stiff jabs and trying to hold the centre of the ring. However, midway through the round, Bryant began to find his range and started to land powerful hooks to the body of Parker and then stunned him several times with straight right hands.

Parker did his best to fight back but Bryant has great physical strength that he used to his advantage as he continually pushed his taller opponent backwards.

Bryant began the second round already one up on points and wasted no time in pursuing Parker with more solid shots.

Under increasing pressure, Parker finally succumbed to the stronger Braintree boxer when he was caught with a great left hook to the ribcage and stumbled into the ropes.

Sensing that he could finish the bout, Bryant slipped a jab from Parker and landed a terrific right uppercut that finally forced the referee to intervene and call a halt to proceedings.

This victory was Bryant’s third stoppage in a row and he is fast gaining a reputation as a powerful performer.

Bryant is likely to box again in February or March and will look to continue his rapid progression in the amateur ranks.
