Witham Town boss Garry Kimble wants to see his players match the effort they put in against Cray Wanderers when they host Brightlingsea Regent in Ryman League division north tonight.

Kimble’s team were justified in feeling disappointed that they didn’t take at least a point against league leaders Cray on Saturday as they caused the high-flying visitors plenty of problems in a hard-working performance.

And Kimble feels a similar display against Brightlingsea at the Village Glass Stadium tonight should bring more reward against their Essex neighbours.

However, just as he had to at the weekend, the Town boss will have to do without four key members of his squad.

“John Watson has a problem with his groin, Mitch Hunter also has a groin injury, it’s Tom Cocklin’s shoulder and George Cocklin is out with his hamstring,” said the Witham manager.

“I don’t think any of them will be ready for Tuesday’s game.

“We just have to go with what we have again and hope it’s good enough.

“But if we can perform against Brightlingsea like we did against Cray Wanderers then we should be OK.

“I know we lost, but I was pleased with that performance.

“If we can take that into the next few games then we should be fine.

“We have a run of home games now, but we have to make sure we win them.

“It’s alright having games at home, but you have to make good use of them.”

Regent, who were without a game at the weekend, will be looking to avenge their defeat by Witham in the FA Cup earlier this season, when Town beat them 3-2 in a replay after the first meeting between them had ended in a 1-1 draw.
