Witham Town manager Garry Kimble is hoping that his team can use their new-found confidence on their return to Ryman League north division action against Brightlingsea Regent tonight.

It has been a tough start to the season for Kimble’s team, with just one league win so far, but the Town boss said he has seen confidence growing in their last two games, including their narrow FA Cup second qualifying round defeat at King’s Lynn Town last weekend.

So he is hoping that they can carry that into an ascent of the league standings.

“Now that the FA Cup is out of the way, we must start climbing the league because that’s our bread and butter,” he said.

“The confidence is gradually coming back and I think the performances have been there in the last couple.

“We saw it against Dereham last week where we did very well and the lads weren’t fazed by going to King’s Lynn at the weekend.

“Hopefully it is showing and we can start picking up points now.”

Brightlingsea will be no strangers to Witham as the two met in the preliminary round of the FA Cup, with Kimble’s team advancing in a replay at Regent’s North Road ground after the first encounter ended in a 1-1 draw at the Village Glass Stadium.

However, the Town boss is aware that Brightlingsea are unbeaten in their last four outings so is taking nothing for granted.

He added: “They aren’t doing too badly in the league, but they’ll be coming to our place on a Tuesday evening and hpfully they won’t fancy it.

“Hopefully we can catch them on the hop.”

Kimble said he had no injury concerns for the game.
