BRAINTREE Town battled to a draw at Dover Athletic.

The Iron gained a point in their Vanarama National League match at Perry’s Crabble Stadium on Tuesday as they fought out a 0-0 draw.

Braintree had the better of the play in the first half but couldn’t take their chances.

Taylor Miles had a right-footed shot from outside the box saved on 11 minutes.

Mitch Brundle then had an effort blocked for the Iron before Sam Habergham’s effort just went wide on 16 minutes.

One of the best chances of the half fell to Simeon Akinola who got on the end off a Miles cross. But his effort was well saved by Dover keeper Mitch Walker on 20 minutes.

Dover had a chance to open their account just before the break but Nicky Deverdics’ free-kick sailed over the bar.

And the home side had the first chance of the second half when Rick Miller’s long range effort was saved.

Kenny Davis tried to open the scoring for the Iron but his shot was wide.

Marks then had a right-footed shot from the edge of the box saved on 59 minutes.

Braintree upped the pressure with a string of corners but the visitors could make the most of it.

But Braintree keeper Will Norris then made a good save from a curling free-kick.

Dover got the ball in the net through a Sean Raggett header but it was ruled out for offside.

Dover’s Jack Parkinson then received a straight red as Braintree waited to take a free-kick on 82 minutes.

But neither side could make a breakthrough on the night to take the win.
