There was nothing to split the top two duos’ points scores in Braintree and Bocking Angling Society’s Warner Cup Pairs match at Notley, but Mark Orrin and Gary Spong’s greater weight saw them to victory.

Both of the leading pairs scored four points, but Orrin and Spong returned 27-0-8 to win on weight from John Daniels and Jim Loosley’s 15-3-8. Orrin won the match and section one with 19-5-0, while Loosley took section two with 9-1-0.

The recent club Sweep fished on the Rayne Lodge top lake produced plenty of fish, with the top three all over the ton mark.

Leading the way from peg 16, was Reece Hearn with 162-12-0 of carp that was caught in the margins on corn. Section winners were Mark Banks with 146-0-0 and Orrin with 134-0-0.

The Friday Sweep at Notley was won by Daniels with 14-13-8, from Pete Thompson, who weighed 11-8-0.

The Bills Tackle Teams continue to do well in the Angling Direct Essex Summer League and the White Team moved to the top with a victory in round four at Blind Lane.

Their 33 points put them top, while the Black Team came joint second with Browning Wickford Red after both had 26 points.

This puts the Black Team in joint second with Browning Wickford Blue Team.

Mark Banks (BT White) was third individual with 119-14-0 and Hearn (BT White) was fifth and a section winner with 116-0-0.

Hearn now heads the individual points table with a 32 total from Alan Leutchford (BT Black) and Pete Steward (BW Red), who are both on 30.
