A number of players saw their handicaps trimmed after medal successes at Braintree Golf Club.
Michael Webster won the Saturday event off a 17 handicap with a nett 67, beating Stewart Gason (24) by a stroke, while John Earl (3) posted a nett 68 for third.
Andrew Fowler won on Sunday with a nett 67 off ten, two better than Philip Musgrove (18), who edged John O’Connor (6) into third on countback after he also had a nett 69.
Braintree senior Mike Ellis enjoyed playing in the Strixon Amateur Championship on the Brabazon Course at the Belfry.
The 14-handicapper, earned his place at the event with a nett 62 in the qualifying competition at Braintree in August. He was accompanied by club assistant professional Steve Hambling at the Belfry and they scored 34 points in incredibly windy conditions, but weren’t among the prize winners.
