There is set to be an all-Cressing showdown in the final of this year’s Braintree Open Darts League Summer Pairs competition.
The first semi-final saw the Welsh Princess’ Andi and Brian Thomas up against Cressing’s Tony Bamsey and Shane Smith.
The Welsh duo had booked their place with a quarter-final win against the Swan’s Rob Turner and Ian Quartemain, while Bamsey and Smith had progressed by beating Notleys Dave Islip and Graham Chinnery in the last eight.
With a 90 shot out in the fourth leg for Bamsey, he and Smith had their final place secured with a 3-1 victory and they will find themselves up against their club-mates Sam and Rhys Hayden on finals night.
The Haydens took their place in the semi-finals by beating the Eagle’s Kelvin Byrne and Keiran Notley in the quarter-finals and faced the Retreat’s Peter Hinkson and Steve O’Neil after their victory against Legends’ Tony Tatam and Ernie Holden.
Hinkson and Steve O’Neil found themselves trailing 2-0 and Rhys Hayden wrapped up the win by going out on double ten for a 3-0 success.
