Braintree and District Athletic Club’s jumping stars had another very successful weekend at the Eastern Counties Athletic Championships in Cambridge.

Ryan Morgan added to his major meeting medal collection by taking double gold.

His first trip to the top step of the podium came in the under-17 men’s long jump as he leaped a new personal best (PB) of 5.94 metres and capped his day off with a winning 12.68m effort in the under-17 triple jump.

The Shingleton brothers also kept their successful season going.

In the under-20 men’s long jump, Richard added a further 1cm to his PB to take the silver medal with a leap of 6.28m, while his brother, Charlie, collected the bronze medal as he was just 8cm behind with a distance of 6.20m.

Charlie then added a silver medal to his Eastern Counties collection by finishing second in the under-20s triple jump with a three-phase distance of 11.94m.

Earlier in the day, Melissa Gurteen started her competitive journey by just missing out on a medal in the under-15 girls’ long jump with a new PB of 4.68m. This gave her the determination to do even better in the under-15 girls’ triple jump where she took a silver medal with a finished length of 9.55m.
