A win for Braintree Football Club against Legends kept them at the top of the ladies’ competition with an undefeated record in the Braintree Open Darts League.

The pairs match saw Legends win all three games before a draw in the triples, while Chris Cook and Dan Taylor won the first two singles for Legends before Ross Banham pulled a game back for the Football Club.

However, wins for Legends’ Tony Tatum and Aaron Holden in the next two games had the singles and overall match won.

The Eagle opened their account at Bocking with a draw in the ladies, a win in the pairs and a draw in the triples and continued by winning all seven games and only dropping one leg in the singles for an overall match win.

The two Wethersfield teams faced each other and the opening ladies’ game saw the points shared, before the B team came out on top in the pairs with a 2-1 win and the A team won both games in the triples.

The singles saw the opening two games going to the A team with wins for Brian Thomas and Arron Dyer, however, wins for Barry Jaggo, Steve Sheldrake and Kevin Taylor had the B team looking for one win from the final two games to secure victory.

However, wins for Clint Barrett and Andi Thomas gave the A team a 4-3 singles victory and an overall 7-5 match win.

The Welsh Princess had a 2-1 win in the pairs, but the Swan came back to win the triples and record a 6-1 win in the singles for the overall match success.

Queen’s Head chalked up a 2-1 win in the pairs against Notley Sports and a draw in the triples before the singles started with a win apiece as Stewart Throogood won for Notley and Richard Whitfield for the Queen’s Head.

However, Notley claimed the remaining five games for singles and overall victory.

There was just one game between the Retreat and Cressing heading into the singles after Retreat won the pairs 2-1 and they drew the triples.

Cressing’s Sam Hayden pulled the overall score level with a win, but victories for John Abbott, Peter Webb and Steve Prow had the hosts back in the driving seat and even though Rhys Hayden cut the deficit with a 2-1 win, Andy Camp wrapped it up for the Retreat.

Bryan Wills, Steve Prow and Taylor Barnard all hit 180s, while Barry Old hit a 120 out shot and Wethersfield A’s Emma Lowe went top of the ladies’ high shot out competition with a 113.
