Bernard Mensah is ready to do whatever Braintree Town ask him to after rejoining the Iron for a second loan spell.

The 20-year-old striker has come to Braintree on loan until the end of the season from Championship side Watford in a repeat of the move he made last season.

Mensah impressed while playing nine games for Braintree last year before a tackle in their game against Lincoln City left him with a knee injury that prematurely terminated his season and he is looking to find further success in his second spell at the Miles Smith Stadium.

He said: “It was great before so I’m looking forward to getting back to playing here again.

“Last time was really successful for me before I had the injury so hopefully this time will be as successful and perhaps even more so.

“I’m just looking forward to helping the team.

“We were in roughly the same position in the table when I came in last year and at the time when I got injured we were closing in on the play-offs with games in hand.

“We suffered with the pitch then and it was pleasing to see that the surface looks much better now, so with a lot of games coming up, I hope we can win some and move up again.

“I’m here to help the team and I’ll play wherever I’m asked to whether that’s out wide or up front.

“Obviously I want to do well for myself, but it’s all about the team and I’ll do whatever job I’m asked to do.”

Mensah has already featured in the Vanarama Conference Premier this season during a loan spell with Barnet, when he made one start and seven substitute appearances.

He has only made one appearance for the Hornets so far this season, but feels he is sharp enough to head straight into Braintree’s line-up for their Conference Premier game against Alfreton on Saturday.

He added: “I feel ready to play but that’s up to the gaffer.

“I’ve been involved with Watford’s development side recently so I feel sharp enough and I’ll be ready if I’m called to play.

“It’s all about getting games for me.

“I’ve been on the bench a bit for Watford, but as a player, you want to play.

“It’s all well and good training, but you want to play and this loan move gives me a chance to get games and score goals.”
