The Retreat have been crowned the Braintree Open Darts League’s 21-leg Knockout Cup winners after beating Notley Sports in the final.

Notley took an early advantage with Stewart Thorogood recording a 3-0 win over the Retreat’s Peter Webb, however, 2-1 wins for the Retreat’s Steve Prow, Peter Hinkson and Andy Camp had the teams level going into the fifth game.

A 3-0 win for John Abbott left the Retreat looking for two legs to win and with Steve O’Neil winning his match against Dave Islip, they wrapped up the title.

The final of the Knockout Plate was also played, with the Swan and Cressing Social Club facing each other and it went to the final game of the night before a winner was decided.

A 2-1 win for Andrew Holland gave Cressing an early lead but 2-1 wins in the next two games for Tony Davis and Danny Lynn put the Swan one leg in front.

Rhys Hayden’s 3-0 win over Miles Zambra had Cressing back in the driving seat but Bryan Willis took his game 3-0 to give the Swan a one-leg advantage.

The Swan’s Leon Griffiths recorded a 2-1 win in the sixth game to leave his team looking for one leg from the final game and with Dave Kelly winning the opening leg against Peter Hayden, the Swan had the 11 legs needed to claim the Plate trophy.

The Plate final saw three 180s scored, with Sam Hayden, Rhys Hayden and Willis all hitting the maximum and there was also a 103 shot-out from Willis and a 12-dart leg of 180, 140, 101 and 80 out from Rhys Hayden.
