Braintree's Danny Mason finished the Essex Interclub League season as the top individual points scorer.

It was an out of sorts Maldon Canal that hosted the sixth and final round, with several blanks recorded.

The Does team ran out winners on the day with a 45.5 point total, from Chelmsford on 40.5 and Billericay on 40.

Barry Hickford of Harwich had the top individual weight with 5-14-0 from the turning bay.

Second on the day was Maldon’s Joe Harbor with 5-3-8, followed in joint third by Pete Guerrier of Chelmsford and Gavin Askew of Does, who both weighed 3-9-8.

The League title was won by Does with 50 points, from Maldon on 46.5 and Braintree on 40.5.

The top individual points scorer was Braintree’s Mason with 51.5 points, followed very closely by Joe Harbor of Maldon on 51.

His team-mate Russ Samuels was third on 49.

Paul Chambers of Harwich beat Mason to win the individual knockout honours and Maldon won the team knockout competition.

The Braintree Club Sweep at Notley on the same day saw the lowest winning weight this season, as Pete Thompson needed just 2-8-0 of small roach, rudd and perch to win from John Daniels who weighed 1-12-0.

The Friday Sweep competitors were greeted by a lake that was at its highest level and very coloured.

Kevin Howell has had a two-month break due to work, but he returned to winning ways on his first match, landing his six F1s, plus bits to finish with 9-15-0. Bernard Huxter had two late F1s to boost him into second place with 2-14-8.
