Blackwater U3A visited Onley Arms and found Beryl Gibson in great form in the Essex Invitation Petanque League.
Partnering Lorne Gibson and Daniel Blows, the Onley triple won their game 13-2, before Beryl Gibson and Dan Blows took the doubles 13-7 and Trevor Blows then used home advantage to claim a 13-6 singles victory for a 3-0 win for Onley.
At Bocking 2, Thorley picked up their second 2-1 away win of the season.
Christina Knights, Richard Tite and David Mills were beaten 13-9 in the triples, before Ian Ruffle and Tite lost 13-7 in the doubles, but Mills did claim a point for the home side as he won 13-6 in the singles.
Bocking 1 had success, though, with a 2-1 win at Billericay U3A.
Trevor Turner, Pam Adams and Malcolm Smith blitzed the home side 13-0 in the triples and even though the hosts took the pairs honours, Turner ensured an overall win for Bocking 1 by winning the singles 13- 7.
A Three Elms derby took place with the Landlords’ team, Elms B, defeating the Landladies’ A team 2-1.
