Witham Town manager Garry Kimble is relieved that his players have had a chance to rest this week after a hectic recent run of games.
They had been due to face AFC Hornchurch in a Ryman League premier division encounter on Tuesday, but the Urchins’ FA Cup first qualifying round replay against East Thurrock meant that fixture was postponed.
But having seen his own team book their FA Cup passage into the second qualifying round with a 4-0 win at Bowers and Pitsea last weekend, Kimble was happy to take a break ahead of Saturday’s home game against Kingstonian in the league (kick-off 3pm).
He said: “I’m not sorry at all about the Hornchurch game being off because we needed a break.
“I would have been down to bare bones as Shami Pedulu, Josh Mayhew and Kurt Smith have all had knee problems, but this will give me a chance to get some of them back ahead of the weekend.
“I gave the players Tuesday night off as they deserve it. It has been non-stop in recent weeks with Saturday-Tuesday games, but we’ve now got four home games coming up and that will help the club in terms of revenue.”
