Garry Kimble is telling his Witham Town players to make sure they aren’t one of this year’s FA Cup shock stories.

Ryman League premier division side Witham will head to Bowers and Pitsea, from the Essex Senior League, for a first qualifying round tie tomorrow with the novel experience of being the favourites to progress.

It’s Witham’s first FA Cup action this season and Kimble wants his players to make sure there is no complacency.

He said: “The fact that we are not classed as under dogs now shows how far we have come in the last few seasons.

“We know it won’t be easy as we know the Essex Senior League.

“It’s where we’ve come from, but we have to show that the last three years since we left that level haven’t been for nothing.

“We don’t want to be one of the FA Cup shocks."
