Brown wants a rousing finish
Halstead Town boss Jody Brown has demanded his side finish the season on a high, following their recent disappointments.
Over the last seven days, Town have seen their hopes of glory in both league and cup shattered.
The 2-2 draw with Great Yarmouth Town last weekend effectively ended their chances of promotion in Ridgeons League division one.
And after last week's penalty shoot-out disappointment against Ely City in the First Division Knockout Cup, Halstead suffered more cup misery when they were beaten 1-0 by Leiston in the East Anglian Cup semi-final.
Halstead play their final league game of the season tomorrow when they travel to take on Stowmarket.
Although it is still mathematically possible for Town to win promotion, they would have to win by a certain number of goals and then hope other results go their way.
Boss Brown knows it is an unlikely scenario - but he still wants his players to finish as high in the league as possible.
He said: "A win tomorrow is vital to our season as there is a major difference between fourth and seventh in the table.
"Whatever happens, I just hope that the supporters can see the progress being made and the effort the players have given all year.
"It's six defeats in 42 games which shows the turnaround.
"It's been a tough week for us, with first the final, then promotion and now the semi-final defeat.
"We have to learn from the big game experience and ensure that we go one better next time."
Brown has major selection problems for tomorrow's trip to Stowmarket.
Halstead lost John Pollard (hamstring), Andy Joslin (groin) and Tom Austin (ankle) to injury before half-time against Leiston.
And they have a further three players unavailable because of work commitments.
