Kent clinches first professional win

Halstead Boxing and Martial Arts Centre's Lewis Kent secured victory in his first professional fight.

Kent, representing Halstead's Daj Chai Gym, fought at 68kg against St Ives' Maxwell Reynolds.

The bout was contested over three two minute rounds and Kent won on a unanimous decision.

Kent came out strong in the first round hitting his opponent with good solid body kicks, nearly knocking him over with each one.

Kent carried on strongly in, blocking attacks and coming back with good strong counters.

Towards the end of the round Lewis got caught with an accidental kick to the groin and was given time to recover by the referee.

The fighters were evenly matched in the second round.

Coming in with good combinations at a lot of points in the round, Kent made good connections with his shots. Reynolds looked ready to go when Kent got another kick to the groin, but was again allowed time to recover and came back with a strong finish to the round.

The third and final round was a bit slower than the two that preceeded it.

Both fighters felt fatigued as Kent continued to hit with solid shots when attacking.

But he again got caught with a kick in the groin and Reynolds was deducted a point, handing Kent the round.

But in the last few seconds of the round Kent threw a push kick with great accuracy which hit Reynolds square on the chin, knocking him to the canvas.

Kent put a lot of hard training in for the fight training six days a week in preparation.
