Bird soars to victory
Halstead and District Motor Cycle Club held its first MX meeting of the 2008 season at Little Loveney Hall, Wakes Colne.
In ideal racing conditions, spectators enjoyed some fast and furious MX action.
At the second round of the Eastern Centre MX Championship for Expert and Juniors, star rider Aston Bird raced a SMX racing 450cc Honda in his three races.
He clinched victory in his opening race but had to settle for second in the following race behind winner Patrick Gilboy. However, he was back in winning mode in his third race.
Riding a RMX 250cc machine, Luke Benstead secured two third places and a fourth in the Junior Championship.
After going through qualification heats, the Juniors went into two championships races.
Gavin Crane was the top rider in the Junior championships, winning both of his races.
Halstead and DMCC's next MX meeting will be on Wednesday June 11, with the opening round of a three-round series sponsored by local motorcycle dealer, GH Motorcycles.
