Penalty heartache for Town
Halstead Town boss Jody Brown has backed youngster Daniel Cooper to bounce back after his penalty woe.
Youngster Cooper, along with team-mate Wayne Saunders, had penalties saved in Town's shoot-out against Ely City in the First Division Knockout Cup Final at Mildenhall.
Halstead were beaten 6-5 in the shoot-out after the final had finished 1-1 after extra-time.
Cooper was devastated after his penalty was saved by Ely goalkeeper Lee Facey.
But Brown said: "Dan Cooper saw his shot saved and he's taken the disappointment badly but he's young and he'll bounce back.
"Dan and all of the team need to remember how far we have come and how quickly we have turned the club's fortunes around."
Halstead, without the injured Danny Rochester, Ross Barton and Paul Abrahams, played their part in a thrilling two hours of exciting end-to-end football.
But their efforts ultimately were not enough after the teams could not be separated after 120 minutes of gripping football.
"Losing on penalties is difficult but we were strong, performed well and deserved a little more from the game," added Brown.
"We have played our division's runaway top two six times now and only lost once.
"We had chances to win the game, not least the fifth penalty at 4-4."
