HADLEIGH & Thundersley will be desperately trying to get their promotion push back on track when they travel to local rivals Wickford in Division One tomorrow.

Hadleigh had been second in the standings before suffering four successive defeats which sent them down to fourth.

But bowler David Williams is hoping the team can get back to winning ways this weekend.

“It will be a tough game but we should be strong enough to get the win we need,” said Williams.

“Last weekend was a missed opportunity for us. After being 140-3 we’d have at least wanted 200 but we didn’t even bat out our 50 overs.

“That cost us and we can’t afford that again tomorrow.”

Wickford need the points for different reasons as they sit just five points above the relegation zone in eighth position.

Southend & EMT will also be keen to come out on top when they host bottom-of-the-table Ardleigh Green this weekend.

Sixth-placed Southend saw off Hainault & Clayhill by six wickets last weekend and are just 30 points behind the promotion places with five games to go.

And their skipper Joe Robbins insists the side are looking forward to getting back in action.

“It’s another big game for us and we will be looking to build on the great win we had last week,” said Robbins.

“Ardleigh Green may be bottom of the league but we won’t be taking them for granted.

“They had an excellent win against Hutton, who are third, last week so will be confident going into Saturday.

“But there’s a real buzz around the club at the moment and we can’t wait to get out there Saturday and hopefully pick up another 20 points.”
